Context
Context is a word that you hear a lot in English as you have to be able to write about this in your English Literature GCSE papers. When we are asked to explore the context of a novel, play or poem, we must find out:
- when the text was written
- where it was written
- what was happening at that time and in that place
- how this affected the writer
- where this is reflected in the text
